VMware is an American software company that provides cloud and virtualisation software and services. It was founded in 1998 and based in Palo Alto, California, USA. The company was acquired by EMC Corporation in 2004, and operates as a separate software subsidiary.

VMware’s desktop software runs on Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX, while VMware’s enterprise software hypervisors for servers, VMware ESX and VMware ESXi, are bare-metal embedded hypervisors that run directly on server hardware without requiring an additional underlying operating system.


EMC Corporation is an American multinational corporation that offers data storage, information security, virtualisation, and cloud computing products and services which enable businesses to store, manage, protect, and analyze massive volumes of data. EMC’s target markets include large FORTUNE 500 companies as well as small business across various vertical markets. It is head quartered in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.


NetApp is an American multinational computer storage and data management company head-quartered in Sunnyvale, California. NetApp has more than 12,000 employees in 150+ offices around the world.

Today, NetApp is the #1 storage provider to the United States government as well as the #1 storage market leader in Germany. NetApp’s products and solutions are currently powering 96% of FORTUNE 100, and NetApp was the first in the data storage industry to introduce a guarantee to cut customer storage usage by 50%.


CommVault Systems founded in 1996, is a publicly traded data management and information management software company head-quartered in Oceanport, New Jersey. It was formed in 1988 as a development group in Bell Labs, and later became a business unit of AT&T Network Systems.

CommVault’s signature product is Simpana software, a scalable, unified data and information management software designed to replace several products. The Simpana software platform provides one management console for administering integrated, licensable modules for backup and recovery, archive, replication, resource management and search capabilities in virtualised and physical IT environments.


Citrix Systems is an American multinational software company founded in 1989, that provides server and desktop virtualisation, networking, software-as-a-service (SaaS), and cloud computing technologies, including Xen open source products.Citrix currently services around 230,000 organisations worldwide and is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in the South Florida metropolitan area, with subsidiary operations in California and Massachusetts, and additional development centers in Australia, India, Canada and the United Kingdom.


Veeam Software is an information technology and software company based in Columbus, Ohio. It produces software products for managing and protecting virtual server environments. Veeam launched their first product, Veeam Monitor, in 2006 and added Veeam Reporter in 2007. Veeam acquired nworks in 2008 to better integrate VMware management with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager.

Veeam’s Backup & Replication product won “Product of Year” Gold Award of TechTarget in 2009, as well as “Best of Show” and “Best New Technology” awards at VMworld 2010.
